During the renovations of the main house, the clients decided that a separate building was needed for artist studio space, doubling as overflow guest quarters. With setback and topography challenges, using the footprint once occupied by a utility building presented the best solution. This 460 square foot building projects out over a steep site, has panoramic views of the bay, and ample day-lighting. The openness of the plan accommodates both the artist and the visitor. Material selections for the exterior are copper cladding and white cedar shingles, the interior is pickled pine and mahogany.
